More than a passion, painting is a necessity for French artist, Anne Pivot-Iafrate. Anne uses different medium techniques such as collage or image transfer, associated with a succession of layers of paint applied with a knife and then rubbed or scraped. Working the material this way, she wants to achieve an effect of "passing time". Pivot exchanged her paintbrushes for knives in order to work with her thick malleable acrylic paint and gold leafing. She utilizes the combination of collage, prints, etching, and layers of glaze to create a warm and colourful atmosphere.
Anne Pivot-Iafrate addresses unique topics to remark a contradiction or an unusual situation. The theme of "inside/outside" industrial settings allows her to bring the past alive. Anne places the mark of time on everyday subjects and seeks to pass on a taste of history and patina through her paintings.
