World-renowned painter, Dominic Besner, was born in 1965 in Canada. He completed his Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Montreal in 1992. This early education allowed him to focus his thoughts on the nature of the city and its components. Besner employs a mixed-technique approach in his works on canvas, with a preference for oil sticks and their rich palette of colors, along with acrylic paint, structural mortar, china marker, and aerosol paint. Additionally, he uses a self-developed method of finger application and canvas scraping.

Whether his subject is human, animal or architectural, the resulting depiction is always the effect of a plasticity that emerges from the dynamic relation between the figure and the space.  The work is intellectually structured by the critical view of the artist who is constantly in search of new colors and forms to give palpable form to urban forces.  The artist approaches of his work as a pictorial architect: his figures are monumental, three dimensional and reflective of the lines that exist between proportion and balance.

From Beijing to London, Casablanca, Miami, New York and Toronto, Besner has more than thirty years of experience as a professional painter. His career led him to exhibit at the Suzhou Museum in China, at the CDP Capital headquarters in Montreal, at the Villa des Arts Museum in Casablanca, etc. He was invited to represent Canada at the Universal Expo in Shanghai in 2010. Cirque du Soleil commissioned him to create a fresco for its Headquarters in Montreal. Throughout the network of galleries who diffuse his original artworks, Besner is presents in numerous International Art Fairs.  His works can be found in collections in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia.
