When the rising Ukrainian star, Katie Lokotska, was young, she loved to use pencil, ink, pastel, and watercolors to create her first works. She is fascinated both by the techniques of the English illustrator Herbert Railton (1857-1910) and the American artist Franklin Booth (1874-1948) and mainly produces portraits and urban scenes. She creates incredible works that are steeped in realism.
Katie sketches her subject on the canvas first and then covers it with umber or ocher sands, before applying the oils. Lokotska's work is exhibited internationally in esteemed public and private collections.
