Wesley Clark was born in Washington, DC, and grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from Syracuse University and a Master of Fine Arts from The George Washington University. Clark currently resides in Hyattsville, MD, with his wife and two beautiful children.

Clark is a conceptual artist creating narrative driven two and three dimensional works. His primary concerns are bolstering the spirit of African Americans, creating new angles at which to view and consider history and the contemporary moment. During periods of respite, he turns to inward explorations through active mediative drawings and paintings. Wesley Clark has exhibited works at institutions such as the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center, Washington DC; Columbia College Glass Curtain Gallery, Chicago, Illinois; Fisk University, Carl Van Vechten Gallery, Nashville, Tennessee; University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Mosely Gallery, Princess Anne, Maryland; Loyola University, Julio Fine Arts Gallery, Baltimore, Maryland; as well as Scope and Prizm Art Fair, Miami, Florida during Art Basel. Most recently his works were featured in the 2023 Tennessee Triennial for Contemporary Art, Nashville. Wesley Clark’s work can be found in private collections throughout America.

Clark’s work, My Big Black America, was acquired by the Asheville Art Museum in 2017. His work can be found in public and private collections such as The Studio Museum in Harlem, and Kaiser Permanente. In 2016 Clark was commissioned by The American Alliance of Museums to create a temporary public artwork. That foray has led to several permanent public artworks located throughout Washington, DC and Maryland. Clark has taught at George Washington University’s Columbian College/Corcoran School of the Arts and Design, teaching Introduction to Painting, Introduction to Drawing, and First year Studio 2D.
