"I did these pieces to bring awareness to life without parole. If you ask me, are these paintings a real-life story? I can tell you yes, absolutely—because me and most of the guys in the show are living it. Through these paintings, I’m trying to show that a life sentence is like living in a tomb. That’s why the title is “Living in a Tomb.” The dates on the paintings show the beginning, and then go in 10-year increments."

Keith Andrews is a 45-year-old artist serving a life sentence that began at the age of 18. Through his paintings, Keith pours his deepest thoughts and feelings into each work, finding a sense of freedom that reminds him of life before incarceration. As a father and grandfather, he is committed to creating a legacy for future generations. Art is his way of changing the narrative and positively investing in his community, embodying his desire to inspire and advocate for social justice reform.
